808 Deli

808 Deli is home to one of the most affordable and delicious lunches you can have on the island! They are known for their sandwiches and fresh menu offerings, especially their spicy pasta salad. Our friends came back from Maui raving about the sandwiches, and many locals in Kihei do, as well. 808 Deli is just across the street from Kamaole Beach Park II, so you can have your lunch oceanside.

Coconut’s Fish Cafe

Fish Tacos at Coconut's Fish Cafe
Eli’s face because the fish tacos are THAT GOOD at Coconut’s Fish Cafe!

Coconut’s Fish Cafe focuses on highlighting fresh fish across the menu. They serve seafood in tacos, sandwiches, salads, and more. They have other protein options, as well, for those who would like an alternative to seafood. Their fish tacos were the best tacos I’ve ever had in my life. Seriously! The fish is delicious and highlighted by other fresh ingredients. Our family members were just as thrilled with the surfboard tables as they were the fish tacos, so YAY for the decor! There are two convenient locations in Kihei near beaches and hotels. Coconut’s Fish Cafe has been featured on CNN, Travel + Leisure and is Zagat rated for their fish tacos.

Monkeypod Kitchen

Monkeypod Mai Tai
The Monkeypod Mai Tai in all its glory. Visit during happy hour for great deals on beverages and appetizers!

Monkeypod is known for good food, beer, and an overall great restaurant to hang out at. Although Monkeypod Kitchen is technically in Wailea, it borders Kihei, so it made this list! We visited during fall, so they had just introduced a special pumpkin pie, which put every other Thanksgiving dessert I’ve ever had to shame. It was THAT good! They have two locations across Maui, and I’d recommend going to both if you can! And holy Mai Tais! Monkeypod Kitchen is famous for its famous Mai Tai with house-made honey lilikoi foam. The presentation is incredible and is as delicious as it looks.

Paʻia Fish Market

The Paʻia Fish Market is one of the favorites across the island. They not only have a location in Kihei, but also in Paʻia Town and Lahaina. If you are in South Maui and craving fresh fish, put the Paʻia Fish Market at the top of your list. They are known for serving generous portions of fresh fish to celebrities and locals alike across the island. They have been featured in publications like Travel Channel, National Geographic, and more. A must-visit for anyone wanting to experience fresh fish on the island!

Da Kitchen

Da Kitchen in Kihei is the original location of this restaurant. Kihei is a popular location with plenty of shopping and hotels, making Da Kitchen a no-brainer stop if you’re hungry. Da Kitchen has been featured in Food Network, highlighting the Notorious B.I.G. Moco and the Kalbi Ribs. They’ve also been featured on the Travel Channel Bizarre Food Show and Man v. Food. Plus, they cooked at the Inaugural Luau in Washington D.C. during the Election of President Obama! Da Kitchen is also the recipient of several awards, further solidifying its reputation as a fantastic restaurant in Maui.

Maui Brewing Company

It’s true. A cold one tastes better on the island! Not only does the Maui Brewing Company have a wide selection of craft brews, but they also serve up delicious Hawaiian-inspired comfort food. There is a pizza, burger, or big plate for everyone…even for vegans and gluten-sensitive people! The Kihei location also offers brewery tours throughout the week. Until we return to Maui, we’ll probably pick up a Maui Brewing Co. six-pack here in frigid Michigan and think back to warm weather and sunshine (yes, they sell their craft beer in stores!).
