The Big Island is the largest of the Hawaiian Islands. It is home to many top attractions and offers a variety of activities for everyone.
One of the most popular outdoor activities on the Big Island is the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. The park is home to two active volcanoes, Kīlauea and Mauna Loa. Although Mauna Loa hasn’t erupted since 1984, it is still very much an active volcano. On the other hand, Kīlauea has added acres of new land to the island since erupting as recently as 2018.
The island has 4 out of the 5 major climate zones present in the world, making the landscape of the island very diverse. You can find rainforests, waterfalls, snow peaks, beaches, and more! The island is both tall and wide, making it a prime location for an abundance of climates. Because of the natural landscape, there are countless outdoor activities for the perfect vacation.
In addition to plenty of outdoor activities, you won’t find any big cities on the island. The small beach towns offer a slower-paced vacation, which is perfect for those who would like to relax. You’ll also find plenty of history across the island, which is nice for those days when you aren’t at the beach soaking up sun. We should mention though, the beaches are stunning! You will find black sand, green sand, and white sand beaches along the coastline.
If you want to get away from city life and experience an abundance of natural beauty, the Big Island is for you!
